About The Artist


Alongside working as a photographer, Li Lin has had a wide range of occupations: soldier, film projectionist, art designer, driller, and office clerk. Through that diverse occupational portfolio, Li Lin has taken on many divergent social perspectives — showcased in Li Lin’s photographic practice. He maintains a keen eye on history, power, and memory by creating records of inhabited spaces and exploring the relationship between people and the landscapes which they inhabit. The photographs beg for us to consider the individual’s destiny in the face of historical circumstances. Best known for his series Abandoned Generation, Li Lin has also exhibited at Lianzhou Foto Festival and Singapore International Photography Festival, among others
