Ceramic Sculpture | Medium: local clay, granite, glass, glaze and kiln elements | Unique Piece | 38 x 24 x 28cm

Special commission for DECK annual fundraiser.

This sculpture was made with materials collected from the open ground where DECK’s container art space once stood.

The clay and granite went through an alchemy of extreme high heat and fusion of organic materials. Clay buckled and collapsed, granite, glass and glazes blistered and melted, amalgamated to become a singular sculpture.

The artist drew inspiration from archeological findings, coral and lichen formations. Fusing traditional vessel forms expresses the co-existence of space lost and creating space.
